Just got home from a leadership training. And these are the things that I learned:
- To be a leader, you must be a servant first.
- Think of others.
- Know your goodness and let it shine.
- Develop your goodness.
- Multiply your goodness.
And as we went home, we are left with a question which I’m gonna ponder later.
WHAT ARE YOU TO OTHERS?

Effective leaders adjust their style to provide what the group can’t provide for itself.-Ken Blanchard quotes leadership
Attitude reflects Leadership, Captain.

THIS IS WHAT ALL LEADERS SHOULD DO!
NOTICE: I said LEADERS! Not Dictators. BELIEVE ME, if you can be classified as a dictator, you are doing your job just “fine” already.
I said leaders for a reason. Managers are specifically bad at doing what is explained in the video BUT being a manager isn’t bad at all. Most people who call themselves leaders are actually managers and vise-versa. but they are definitely different. Like we learned:
“Management is about coping with complexity… Good management brings a degree of order and consistency to key dimensions like the quality and profitability of products…”
“Leadership, by contrast, is about coping with change… Major changes are more and more necessary to survive and compete effectively in its new enviroment. More changes always demands more leadership…”
There is nothing wrong with being either a great leader or a great manager. Both attributes are great to have. In fact, it’s actually more desired to have a bit of both attributes but the harsh truth is most of us focus in on one or the other.
That isn’t a bad thing, it’s common. Realizing which one you are is half of the battle though. Realize which one you are and find a counter-part. Together, both of you grow.
Just something else i learned at RUCK…
